This award was introduced in 2003 (pre Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame) to celebrate people whom Scottish traditional music couldn’t do without. It was posthumously awarded to Hamish Henderson and thereafter known as “The Hamish Henderson Services to Traditional Music Award.” In 2005 when the Hall of Fame was born we decided to devote this Award to people within the Scottish traditional music industry (not necessarily musicians) and we added a performers section of the Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame. You can look at all the inductees and categories here.
