We asked Mark Bruce of The Elephant Sessions the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
The Elephant Sessions are a neo trad quintet forged in the Highlands of Scotland. September saw the release of the bands self penned debut album ‘The Elusive Highland Beauty’. The record has been going down very well with the media all over the UK and Europe. 2015 looks set to be a big year for the band with a tour to promote the album already starting to fall into place both in the UK and abroad.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
We all share a love for the tradition and and are all extremely passionate about pushing the boundaries of that and making music that we think is new and exciting. Our passion is playing live and this is where we feel we are most at home.
Any particular career highlights?
Opening for the Peatbog Faeries at the 02 Academy in Newcastle was pretty special as was the release of our album. It started to feel like our hard work was maybe starting to pay off. Oh, and finding out we were up for this award was nice too.
What are your plans for the future?
To tour the album and to keep making music that we love. We think of ourselves as five very lucky guys to be able to do what we do and see what we see. It has been some journey so far, long may it continue!
