We asked Alan Crookston of Alan Crookston ceilidh band the following questions.
Tell us about yourself
We have been together for over 2 years as the Alan Crookston band but between us have played with different bands and have years playing experience. We released our first album this year and is selling well also we are just about to record our 3rd take the floor session for BBC radio Scotland. We are going from strength to strength and absolutely love playing together and to be able to play with your group of friends is amazing.
Why are you involved in Scottish music?
I was brought up listening to Scottish music thanks to my grandparents. They always had Scottish music on and I loved it and had an ear for it. I started taking lessons when I was 11 and the rest is history.
Any particular career highlights?
Have had a few but namely bringing out the debut album note before time and recently playing for the Lorraine kelly 24 hour ceilidh
What are your plans for the future?
Plans for the future are to keep going from strength to strength keep the music alive by being fresh but sticking too the traditional roots.
