New Voices: Innes White, Celtic Connections 2018

January 19, 2018 By simon 1 Comment

Growing up in Dingwall, the young multi-instrumentalist and singer Innes White was involved with Fèis Rois from an early age, and is now one of Scotland’s most in-demand accompanists, working with Mischa Macpherson, Karen Matheson and John McCusker, among others. Playing guitar, mandolin and piano, he was nominated as Instrumentalist of the Year in the 2016 Scots Trad Music Awards. Here he steps centre-stage with a collection of original songs and tunes, reflecting influences that range from his native Gaelic culture to progressive Americana. His line-up includes fiddlers Patsy Reid, Innes Watson and Graham Mackenzie, cellist Su-a Lee, guitarist Sorren MacLean, bassist James Lindsay and drummer Greg Barry.

Tha sinn uile eòlach an an t-ainm Innes White mar shàr cheòladair air giotar, mandolin agus piano. Tha sinn gu h-araid eòlach air airson a bhith a cumail taic le seinneadairean agus luchd-ciùil agus a suidhe air ais airson teansa a thoirt dhaibhsean tighinn beò. An diugh aig Cuiream New Voices ’s e easan tha a gabhail meadhann na h-àrd-ùrlar le ainm ann an runagan a gabhail cùram airson an ceòl agus na h-orain a th’air an gabhail. Tha Innes air air a bhith trang a sgrìobhadh ceòl is òrain ùr agus a bharrachd air an seo tha e ga sèinn cuideachd.

Gu fontanach dhà, tha gu leòr de runagan aige còmhla ris air an àrd-ùrlar, Innes Watson, Patsy Reid & Graham MacKenzie air an fhidheal, Su-a Lee air an cello, Sorren MacLean le giotar, James Lindsay le bass & Greg Barry air na drumaichean. Còmhladh, thàinig aca air na beachdan, faireachdainnean is faclan aig White fhighe ri chèile airson a ghuth a thoirt beò. Channain gun robh e treun na fhaclan agus anns an t-sèinn aige, le cuid de phìosan a’ tighinn gu math làidir à ceòl na h-Alba. Bha cuideachd faireachdain Americana aige tron chuiream, le co-shiream is ce`ol gu math breagha.

Chì sinn bhon fheasgar seo gu bheil White airidh air moladh na luchd ciùil as urrainn cumail air ais agus aig an aon àm seasamh an àirde. Tha mi a coimhead air adhart ris an ath phriòseact aige.
