New Competition! Write a Strathspey for the Coronation.

#WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay is on Saturday 6th May this year which coincides with King Charles III Coronation. To celebrate this fact we are putting out a call out for people to write a new strathspey in honour of King Charles III. All entries will be judges by a panel and the winning entry will be called King Charles III Coronation Strathspey.

To enter the competition please upload your tune here or fill in the form below. Give it any title apart from King Charles III Coronation Strathspey. All entries will be made public after the winning tune is announced. The winning tune will also be performed at our #WorldPlayAStrathspeyDay concert at Edinburgh TradFest on the 6th May. The closing date for entries is Sunday 16th April at midnight.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Open to Scottish based or born acts except employees of Hands Up for Trad and their immediate families, their agents or anyone professionally associated with this promotion.
  • All composers must be aged 13 or over.
  • Composers can add as many tunes as they like.
  • Incomplete, illegible or corrupt entries, or those not in accordance with these terms & conditions will not be accepted.
  • The closing date for entries is Sunday 16th April 2023.
  • The winning strathspey will be selected by our panel of experts and the winner contacted the previous week. The list will be announced on Monday 1st May.
  • All tunes will be made public after the event.
  • Tunes with rude, offensive titles will be disqualified.
  • No correspondence will be entered into. The panels decision is final.
  • The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the competition and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent.
