Inchaffray Abbey in Perthshire was once one of the most important churches in Scotland. One abbot, Maurice of Inchaffray, was King Robert the Bruce's personal chaplain, and was present at the Battle of Bannockburn. All that's left now is a piece of gable in a clump of trees.

Has been composing and arranging many tunes since he retired and of course had more time for it. His early background was in all the forms of popular music in the 1950s, but Scottish music was everywhere so he was influenced by that too. He migrated from guitar to mandolin some time ago and into the Folk/Traditional world. He also plays tenor banjo, octave mandolin and dobro.
