I composed the tune in memory of my great-nephew Iain Mackay from Wick. Iain passed away on 25th August 2021, following a road accident. Iain was just 16 days away from his 3rd birthday. He is missed terribly, but we have many fond memories of a happy, loving and caring little boy. The tune was recorded as a fundraiser for GCHC (Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity) in January 2022. The GCHC provide support to patients of The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow and their families, including helping to ensure that patients receive the best care possible.

Karen, a fiddle player/composer/recording artist was raised in a musical household. Her dad, Eion was self-taught on accordion, while her mother, Christine ensured that the girls in the family attended highland dancing lessons. From an early age, Karen and her siblings were exposed to highland bagpipe music, as this commonly accompanies highland dancing. She believes that by the time she began learning fiddle at age 13, she already had a repertoire of tunes in her head. This, combined with exposure to traditional music at home and at local accordion & fiddle clubs led to a love of traditional music and playing for highland dancing. Karen loves to compose tunes inspired by places around Scotland, for friends & family as well as for highland dance choreography.
