Last Friday we hosted our third Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame Dinner in Oran Mor, Glasgow. Whenever you enter the Oran Mor Auditorium with it’s amazing murals by artist Alasdair Gray it feels good. There were representatives from all the inductees at the dinner and it was great to meet them all.
The evening started with 3 songs from current BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award winner Robyn Stapleton and 2015 finalist Claire Hastings. It was then meal time! My favourite was the tomato soup – delicious!
After the meal Barra’s Maeve Mackinnon sang 3 beautiful Gaelic songs and then it was time for the presentations. We started of with a harp fanfare performed by new harp duo Harp Bazarre. Then it was the tune of the inductees. The presentations were in the order below.
The Clutha
Andy Thorburn
Danny Kyle
Ian Holmes
Archie Grant
Jimmy Blue
Hamish Moore
Ishbel McAskill
The Whistlebinkies
Margaret Bennett
Davy Steele
Davie Henderson
