LA Sync trade mission organised by BPI, MPA and DIT returns for 12-16 September 2022
Applications to attend as a delegate are now invited
The music industry’s annual trade mission to Los Angeles is back, and this year, following a three-year hiatus which saw the trip replaced by webinars, it will take place in person between 12th – 16th September 2022.
Hosted by the iconic East West Studios in the heart of Hollywood, this popular industry event supports the continuing growth of UK music exports by promoting demand for the music written and composed by British artists and songwriters that is featured in film, TV and video games soundtracks and TV/radio ads – worth over £30 million to the UK recorded music sector in 2021, according to the BPI in its All About The Music 2022 yearbook (up 47.6% on 2020).
The five-day mission is a broad-ranging and dynamic mix of panels, site visits, practical sessions, meetings and keynote speakers, as well as an exclusive networking reception held in honour of the delegates hosted by the British Consul General, Emily Cloke.
Applications to join the LA Sync Mission can be submitted here.
The annual LA Sync Mission enables UK record label and music publishing executives to gain a unique insight into the operation of the lucrative sync licensing market in the US. The mission also provides attendees a priceless opportunity to connect with each other and meet with many of the key players and decision-makers from the world of sync working across the TV, film, advertising and games markets in the media capital of the US – the world’s largest entertainment market.
Now approaching its 20th year, the mission enables British music companies and individuals to meet with key execs responsible for placing music in films – in the past including Star Wars, Whiplash, Kong:Skull Island, Moonlight and Dunkirk; TV shows such as NCIS, The Good Wife, Stranger Things, and American Gothic; and video games including Assassins Creed, FIFA, and Forza Horizon 2. Recent successful sync placements off the back of these sessions include tracks that featured in the multiple award-winning The Shape of Water and the #1 box office Halloween smash Boo 2: A Madea Halloween, as well as the Star Wars franchise, Amazon Prime’s Coming 2 America and Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The LA Sync Mission is organised jointly by UK record labels association the BPI, the Music Publishers Association(MPA) and the Department for International Trade (DIT), and is open to all UK music and other companies that are actively engaged in the business of Sync.
