The Village Storytelling Centre, Glasgow are recruiting for an Executive Director and two Storytellers.

Executive Director
Hours: 35 hours, permanent

Salary: £32,000-£37,500 depending on experience 

Location: Glasgow

The vision of the Village Storytelling Centre is to inspire people to find, shape and share their voices through the power of story. We work particularly with those who are disadvantaged, marginalised and excluded to support them to achieve their full potential. Based in the community of Greater Pollok, we have a national reputation for applied storytelling and maintain the highest standards of artistic excellence.

We are looking for an Executive Director to build on our success and ensure that the Village continues to innovate and strengthen storytelling as an art form by engaging with the widest range of participants off all ages and enabling them to overcome any barriers to participation in creative activities.

The purpose of the role is to lead and manage the Village Storytelling Centre. Key responsibilities include: building partnerships, generating income and managing grants, developing and implementing the creative programme including a successful biennial Storytelling Festival, inspiring and managing the staff team and reporting to the Board.

We are looking for an inspiring and creative director who is committed to managing an organisation that will make a difference to the lives of people and communities through the arts and will strengthen the art of storytelling in Scotland. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience of senior management, preferably in an arts context, experience of the third or social enterprise sector, strong entrepreneurial and financial skills, a commitment to access and inclusion, a proven track record in building and maintaining partnerships and strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the arts and cultural scene in Scotland is an advantage.

First interviews will be held on Tuesday 12th December 2017. Shortlisted applicants will be notified on 6th December. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by 31st December. Unfortunately as a small organisation we cannot provide feedback to all applicants.

Storyteller (2 Posts, 1 is a Maternity Cover post)
Hours: 35 hours, Temporary contract: 6 months with possible extension

Salary: £22,708

Location: Glasgow

Based in the community of Greater Pollok, we have a national reputation for applied storytelling and maintain the highest standards of artistic excellence.

The post holder(s) will research, develop, deliver and evaluate storytelling projects and programmes with various disadvantaged or marginalised groups and people of all ages and backgrounds and will contribute to our ongoing story-based projects and activities. We are looking for people who will fit in well with the team, understand the values and purpose of the Village and bring experience of arts facilitation, performing and storytelling.
