The Merry Lads of Ayr – blog 2

I’m always amazed that when writing faster music you have to write so many notes to make 1 minutes worth of music! As I’m writing a reel I’ve written loads and it’s still only at 1 min 30 secs… The idea is to stick to the theme and not write lots new stuff all the time but it’s still a lot of notes.

I’m now at the end of this section (for the moment). I need to stop going back and changing it and stick to moving forward. I will go back when the form is in place and make further changes. I’ve started on a slower section (woo hoo lots of minutes!) but I need some inspiration. I felt really tired yesterday (as I’m also juggling lots of Hands Up for Trad work) so I decided to go to bed!

After a good sleep I’m hoping to get some more ideas today.

Come and hear this and all the other new compositions at Distil Showcase – Friday 8th April, Stirling Tolbooth 8pm

Update: just deleted all of last nights work…
