The Artist’s Way course (Edinburgh)

The Artist’s Way is a 12 week course exploring inner creativity. For some that inner creativity could be getting in touch with their artistic dramatic side, while for others it might look like being more creative in their personal or work life.
Based on a best-selling book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron, this course explores and seeks to overcome what blocks the full expression of our creativity and playfulness. The basic assumption of The Artist’s Way is that you do not have to learn how to be more creative; instead you need to free your natural creativity. Our creativity can be blocked, and also unlocked.
The Artist’s Way, is a road map to reclaim creativity, each week offering a different dimension to re-connect to. It is a ‘gentle’ book that can have a big impact, particularly when it’s worked through in a facilitated group setting with the opportunity to deepen into the learning through additional exercises and experiences.

Who is the course for?
This course is open to all- whether you see yourself as an artist or not. We use the word “artist” in the broadest sense. The word “artist” actually is defined as “someone who is a creative person (a person whose creative work shows sensitivity and imagination).”

Come to this course if you would like to :
* Explore how your life can be your art
* Engage sensitively with the creativity of your inner child
* Learn to acknowledge and celebrate your creative achievements
* Explore ways to dissolve blocks to self-expression
* Understand what motivates and inspires your creative muse!
* Be in charge of your own process and support others through theirs
* Have some fun and be surprised by your own blossoming

The course is facilitated by theatre director, producer and teacher Marta Mari. Marta has trained at Columbia College Chicago, Acting Studio Chicago, and Queen Margaret University. She has led and participated in number of theatre and scrip development workshops in the USA, Poland, Scotland and Indonesia. Marta is an artistic director of Edinburgh based Asylon Theatre.
