Bursaries cover fees, framing, delivery of work and travel to the 2025 preview. Open to works in all media by talented artists in Scotland affected by low income, discrimination & any other obstacle.
Scottish Arts Trust Bursaries provide opportunities for skilled under-represented writers and artists to obtain free entry to our writing and visual arts awards.
To support as many writers and artists as possible, applications are limited to one bursary per year, per person. Bursaries may be awarded to writers and artists affected by low household income; discrimination due to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or as a member of a minority group; who are refugees, forced migrants or ex-offenders; affected by disabilities or who are full-time carers or face other barriers that may affect entry to our competitions.
Bursary applications are open now for artists seeking to enter the Scottish Landscape Awards. Your application must include the work you wish to enter for the competition.
Successful applications will depend on the quality of the work submitted, and your practice as a writer or artist. We do not ask for proof of your circumstances. Our aim is to ensure the most talented writers and artists who need assistance are able to access the opportunity. All applicants will be informed if their bursary application has succeeded or not at least three weeks before the competition deadline.
Applying for a bursary does not mean you have entered the competition. The number of bursaries we award depends on the generosity of donors who are often other writers and artists.
Please do not apply for a bursary if you are able to pay for entry.
Paid entries are open from 10 October 2024 to 11 February 2025. The fee per work entered for the Scottish Landscape Awards is £15.00.
First prize in the Scottish Landscape Awards is £10,000 which can be won by any artist born, living or studying in Scotland and work in any medium – painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, all forms of sculpture, animation, textiles, photography, installation, video, multi-media, games, virtual reality landscapes – and more.
Works entered for the Scottish Landscape Awards may be imaginary, surreal, abstract, documentary, ecological, realistic – anything is possible as long as the work carries a strong sense of place or context. We seek works that reflect all dimensions of natural and/or synthetic environments – rural, urban, industrial, suburban, forest, mountain and seascapes, interior/exterior, minute/enlarged and more.
