Don’t miss Planetarium & Red Planet Suite this Monday 9th March at The Queen’s Hall, Edinburgh, EH8 9JG.
Continuing Drake Music Scotland’s long term relationship with City of Edinburgh Council, “Planetarium” & “The Red Planet Suite” bring together pupils from nine Special Schools alongside a composer and mainstream ensemble, which is a first for this project.
Planetarium – 1.00pm Performance
Taking inspiration from Gustav Holst’s ‘Mars’ from BBC Ten Pieces, six of Edinburgh’s Special Schools will transform The Queen’s Hall into an audible Planetarium with the performance of their own original compositions based on the theme of Space.
The Red Planet Suite – 7.30pm Performance – Tickets – £7/£4
Tickets available from The Queen’s Hall website here
Working with Composer Lewis Forbes, Drake Music Scotland have commissioned “The Red Planet Suite”. Three of Edinburgh’s Special Schools will perform alongside their mainstream peers from the Edinburgh Schools Jazz Orchestra in a one-off performance showcasing music technology, and Figurenotes sharing the stage alongside conventional instruments. This performance will transport listeners to another planet and explore Drake Music Scotland use technology and Figurenotes.
