Nevis Ensemble (Artistic Directors: Holly Mathieson and Jonathan Hargreaves) is a brand new Street Orchestra for Scotland, which will see its debut in August 2018 as part of the Cultural Programme running alongside the first ever European Championships hosted jointly between Glasgow and Berlin.
Removing barriers to accessing orchestral music means bringing it to where people are, and when they are there. Nevis will bring high-energy, quality symphonic music of all genres to communities around Scotland during an intense two-week 70-performance tour.
Full-scale, 40-piece orchestral performances of the best, most diverse music you can imagine: popping up and surprising commuters first thing in the morning; entertaining residents in oft-forgotten parts of the city; guerrilla-style appearances in swimming pools; generating huge public audiences in public spaces. Running in parallel to a fast-and-furious public pop-up performance schedule, is a carefully plotted patchwork of community-based performances, and partnerships with voluntary and third-sector organisations have been nurtured to ensure the most vulnerable and marginalised in our society do not miss out.
For this inaugural project, Nevis is seeking a Producer (temporary) to assist in the preparation of the August tour, and to act as Tour Manager between 27 July and 14 August 2018, when the orchestra shall be based in Glasgow delivering 70 performances, both in the city and around Scotland.
The successful candidate must be available for the duration of the tour (27 July –14 August 2018), with work beforehand carried out flexibly at mutually convenient times.
Duties shall include:
• Liaising with venues/hosting organisations prior to and during the tour
• Maintaining and updating the tour schedule
• Ensuring tour travel/accommodation is in place
• Being first point of contact for musicians during the tour
• Carrying out risk assessments
