Musicians Invitation: Scottish Jazz Focus Weekend

This is an open invitation to Jazz musicians based in Scotland to apply to participate in the: “Scottish Jazz Focus Weekend” at The Jazz Station jazz club in Brussels.

Jazz Musicians Invitation

This is designed for Scotland-based Jazz musicians to promote Scotland and Scottish jazz in Brussels and the EU. Jazz at the Bluelamp (www.jazzatthebluelamp.com) is organising this event with funding support from Creative Scotland’s Open Project Fund. Also involved are: The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival and, in Brussels, The Jazz Station (Jazz club) www.jazzstation.be and Aubergine Artist Management.

There is no detailed application form but bands / ensembles that apply will need to demonstrate a good social media and web presence and have an EPK or other marketing material. Applicants will also be asked to submit audio / video clips of their performances. These will be forwarded to The Jazz Station ‘listening committee’ who will make the final selection of the artists who will perform at the club on the selected weekend. The Jazz Station is looking for bands “that will make their audience curious about what jazz in Scotland is all about”.

It is currently envisaged there will be a requirement for two bands / ensembles with one performing on Friday 3rd April and the other on Saturday 4th April. There will also be (Scottish) guest musicians slots with the Jazz Station Big band on Thursday night 2nd April. There may also be a performance at a reception on Wednesday, April 1st (to be confirmed).

Travel, accommodation and gig fee are provided for bands / ensembles up to Quintet. More details will provided to applicants which meet the criteria as outlined. Applicants need to ensure they can commit to the dates in question (1st – 5th April) before submitting their application – note: performance dates will be narrowed to a one or two day commitment closer to the event.

If artists wish to use this as a springboard for further concerts in Europe they may do so but unfortunately we are not able to offer any further financial support for that as part of this project.

The deadline for applications with all supporting links and documentation is December 11th, 2019 but expressions of interest and requests for clarification should be submitted as soon as possible.

Location: International
