Big Noise Torry (Aberdeen) are looking for a Musician/Teacher (Upper or Lower strings or General Musicianship)

This pioneering programme drew its initial inspiration from El Sistema in Venezuela and our vision is to transform lives with music. We deliver on our vision through the creation of Big Noise programmes within communities. Since its inception in 2007, the programme has grown and developed into a multi – faceted and immersive music education and social development programme which uses the orchestra as a learning community. We currently run four programmes in Raploch in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Torry, Aberdeen and Douglas, Dundee.
You will work with children from pre-school and primary school, adults and eventually children from secondary school. Being creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning you will use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. As part of the team you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, you must have experience of working with large and varied groups of children along with a track record of success in giving music instruction to children on your specialist instrument (either lower strings – ‘cello and double bass, or upper strings – violin and viola, or general musicianship).
You will work 3 days a week between Monday and Thursday, working term time only.
