Dunoon Burgh Hall is looking to develop its music programme and is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to deliver this.
Dunoon Burgh Hall Trust is a small, but ambitious organisation which, following full refurbishment, reopened its building as an arts and cultural community venue in June 2017. The Trust is now looking to develop its music programme.
Project overview
The desired candidate should have a knowledge and understanding of the music scene locally, including gaps, opportunities and strengths. They should also have an understanding of music provision across Scotland and how Dunoon Burgh Hall could address national priorities.
The candidate will be expected to work with children, young people and older groups. They will develop connections with local musicians’ groups to engage our community in all aspects of programming. This work will form a key part of Dunoon Burgh Hall’s Cultural Ambassador programme, nurturing and supporting local talent.
Programme development examples could include facilitating ‘open mic’ nights, community choirs, music workshops, school holiday activities, etc.
The successful candidate will be expected to support any funding applications for music provision, as well as for the wider creative programme. Report writing and gathering data will be an important element of the post.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Previous experience in music creation, performance and / or production
Good understanding of music opportunities across Scotland
Excellent communication skills
Computer literate – email, Word, presentations, etc.
Able to collate complex information
Good people skills
Good organisational skills
PREFERABLE SKILLS
Good understanding and knowledge of music provision across Cowal
Experience of working with music education
Previous experience in an arts based project
FEE
Total fee: £6,400, on a freelance basis
Rate of pay: £20 per hour
Hours: 8 hours per week over 40 weeks
Working hours will be flexible and self managed.
Start date: October/November 2017
Project to be delivered by August 2018
The successful applicant will be required to have a current PVG certificate
Work will be based at Dunoon Burgh Hall, 195 Argyll Street, Dunoon, PA23 7DD and will also require some travel across Cowal and the west of Scotland.
