Music of the Volta Region Study Tour (Tafi Cultural Institute)

Come join us for a 3-week Study Tour and Cultural Exchange, learning the traditional drumming, dancing and singing of the Volta Region’s Ewe people.

TOUR DATES: 1st-22nd January 2019

In the evenings we will host live music performances and story-telling sessions from the Tafi Atome Culture Group and special guest musicians from throughout the Volta Region…plus weekly trips to visit the local craft-making villages, waterfalls, mountains and culture groups of the Volta Region, including stays at Mountain Paradise Lodge in Biakpa.

The study tour will give you the opportunity to collaborate and rehearse with the musicians in the Tafi Atome Culture Group, culminating in a final performance.

Borborbor/Agbadza/Akpi

Drumming

Dance

Voice

You will stay in the boarding house provided by the community, with large private bedrooms (with ceiling fans) and a shared living room space and will be provided with 3 meals/day of delicious home-cooked Ghanaian food (vegetarian and other diets can be accommodated), tea, coffee and water.

Price: £670.00 ($885 USD)/person

22 nights accommodation

21 days food and water/tea/coffee (3 meals/day)

54 hours Drumming, Dance & Voice Tuition

Music of the Volta Region Talks x 3 Cultural Performances from various Cultural Groups

Storytelling Session Elder Women of Tafi Atome Singing Performance

Excursions to Kente Weaving Village, Mount Paradise, Afadjato Mountain (entrance fees, guide and transportation)

Transfers from Accra to Tafi Atome & back at beginning & end of course

*Please note, entry into Ghana is not permitted without the yellow fever vaccination, the certificate must then be shown at the airport. There are also other vaccinations that are highly recommended.
