Hospitalfield Arts are establishing, during the spring and summer of 2014, an Interdisciplinary Residency Programme that they believe will appeal to a far wider range of groups and individuals working in the arts. These are lovely months to be here working on the east coast of Scotland and their aim is to make the wonderful environment of Hospitalfield available to far more people. With their experience of programming residencies, they can make this time in to an extraordinarily important and rewarding working opportunity for those who participate. This is early days for the programme and, as yet, there are not bursaries to cover the costs but they have done their best to ensure that we make the costs as affordable as they can.
There are two-week slots available during 2014 for this programme:
23 April – 7 May 2014 and 11 – 24 August 2014
Application deadline: Friday 24 January 2014.
Selection confirmation: by the 6 February 2014.
Selectors: Roanne Dods, Artistic Director, PAL, Peggy Hughes, Director, Dundee Literary Festival, Neil Murray, Executive Producer, National Theatre of Scotland
Chair of Panel: Laura Simpson, Programme Manager, Hospitalfield

The Interdisciplinary Residency Programme at Hospitalfield has been devised to appeal across all artforms and is open to artists, writers, producers, dancers, choreographers, commissioners, curators, producers and others developing their working lives within the scope of contemporary cultural practices. This programme has been planned in recognition that there are a wide range of indviduals who require time away from the everyday to focus on the development of their work.
We will ensure that this is a productive time set within the retreat-like setting of Hospitalfield, which works for individuals or collaborative groups as a test bed for developing their practice. It is also an opportunity that appeals to those arts professionals who need time to work on a specific project, undisturbed, in a supportive environment.
The selectors will wish to bring together a group that reflects a very broad range of practices, that will find the time invaluable and gain much from the informal exchange of working within the residency setting.
The Interdisciplinary Programme is not supported directly through public funds but Hospitalfield subsidises the cost with the aim of keeping it affordable. We expect that some of the applicants will pay for themselves and others will look to their professional body, local cultural support structures, private trusts or advocating agency for advice and support. The cost for a full 2 weeks residency is £560 full board and shorter residencies within this period can also be accommodated. A list of visiting contributors to the programme will be established to suit the participants once this is confirmed. There are 12 places available on each of the 2 week programmes.
