Aberdeen Performing Arts is seeking to recruit an experienced freelance Youth Music Tutor to deliver our weekly Mini Maestros class as part of APA’s Engage programme of participatory music and drama activity for young people. APA runs a year-round programme of 5 drama and 4 music classes which cover the age range of 0-18 years. The youth music strand is managed by our Music Development Coordinator, and overseen by our Creative Learning Manager.
The Mini Maestros class is for young people of school years P1-P3 and is open for any young person of this age to join, regardless of experience or ability. The class meets weekly during term time, on a Saturday afternoon from 3.00pm-4.00pm. All classes take place in our Education Studio in His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen. The class is aimed at young people with a keen interest in music, singing and the performing arts. Weekly classes help participants develop and advance their musicianship skills in a fun & safe environment. The group will work towards an end of term sharing for parents and friends in the education studio. The main point of contact for the Youth Music Tutor will be APA’s Music Development Coordinator
The fee for the freelance Youth Music tutor (Mini Maestros) is £600 per 10-week term and will be paid at the end of each term on submission of an invoice. There will be two terms each lasting ten weeks as per the schedule below.
Spring Term: Saturday 14 January 2017 to Saturday 18 March 2017
Summer Term: Saturday 22 April 2017 to Saturday 24 June 2017
The Youth Music tutor will be required to teach the Mini Maestros class, as well as be present at the end of term sharing.
