Traditional Music Forum and Sound Sense, the UK professional association for community music, are offering a 1-day skills share and CPD event on 17 November 2022 at the Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh. The over-arching theme is ‘Inclusion; aims and realities’ and will focus on sharing practice that enables people to have meaningful music making opportunities.
The first part of the day will include a keynote session/workshop by Nicola McAllister, child development and behaviour specialist. This session will particularly benefit those working with children and young people with behavioural issues, those she describes as ‘distressed not difficult’.
The afternoon will start with a session entitled ‘What Would You Do?’, using the Fail Space toolkit, where attendees can dig into the challenges they face in truly offering inclusive experiences. Finally there will be a jam session demonstrating practical approaches to inclusive music making.
Lunch and refreshments are included with your free ticket, and will be provided by The Haggis Box
This event is supported by Creative Scotland through the Youth Music Initiative Training and Continuing Professional Development fund.Link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/community-music-connected-tickets-430861938657
