Festival Drivers, Edinburgh International Festival

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for experienced and confident Drivers to join the Transport Department within the Artistic Management team.

Festival Drivers
£12 per hour
22nd July to 30th August 2024
The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for experienced and confident Drivers to join the Transport Department within the Artistic Management team. We want you to help us present this unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, which brings some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.
The Edinburgh International Festival is an equal opportunity employer, and we value diversity. We believe that an inclusive culture is the foundation for a successful workplace, and we strive to grow our diverse representation across our staff, our artists, and our audiences.

We actively encourage applications from currently under-represented groups. We have identified ethnic minority backgrounds, and disabilities as the key areas we would like to focus our recruitment efforts in.

Festival Drivers will transport visiting artists and performers to/from the airport or station to their accommodation, Festival venues and rehearsals throughout the Festival period, in a vehicle provided by the International Festival. This role is key in enabling artists to travel safely and punctually around Edinburgh and occasionally to/from Glasgow.

Drivers will be sent daily driving schedules the afternoon prior. Note that due to the huge scale of this Festival and rapidly changing artist movements, it is not practical to send Driver schedules any further in advance than the evening before. Therefore, successful candidates must be dedicated, organised, punctual, and patient with the ability to react calmly and quickly to changing schedules. Flexibility and a calm temperament is key.

You are essentially ‘the face’ of the Festival, so you must be warm, welcoming, friendly and professional to artists and staff at all times.

Excellent communication skills are required, as you need to be extremely responsive and on-call to the Transport Manager on the days you are driving, in case schedules change, and to advise of any unforeseen delays.
