An opportunity to work with Fèis Rois to programme weekly music classes and other opportunities in traditional music and the Gaelic language for children, young people and adults in Ross-Shire.
KEY TASKS
• Co-ordinate a programme that includes 30+ weekly classes for young people and adults.
• Manage the Fèis Rois instrument hire bank
• Work with the Fèis Rois Education Manager to develop an annual programme of professional development and training opportunities for teaching artists
• Develop opportunities for targeted groups to engage in music making opportunities in the Highlands, e.g. this will include work with refugees, young carers, and care experienced young people.
• Co-ordinate an annual winter music tuition weekend for community performance group, Fèis the Music.
• Work with the Chief Executive to secure funding for the continued development and expansion of the community classes programme in Ross-Shire;
• Work with the Education Manager to ensure that all Fèis Rois projects, whether taking place in school or out of school, dovetail and complement each other.
• Take innovative approaches towards e-learning and developing a virtual learning environment
• During busy periods, you may be asked to work with the colleagues on other projects.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential
• At least three years’ experience of working in the arts / community development settings
• Experience of working with young people and a knowledge of child protection legislation and policy
• Project management experience, including: organising and directing freelance project teams; monitoring budgets; financial reporting; evaluating projects
• Previous experience of partnership working in the arts at a local level
• Experience of promoting projects and marketing events
• Knowledge of health and safety policy and risk assessment procedures
• Ability to demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to manage your own time and resources to achieve deadlines
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and show flexibility in your approach to your work
• A team worker who can anticipate problems and show initiative for problem-solving
• A reliable individual who is trustworthy with confidential information
• Accurate typing and word processing skills
Desirable
• Degree educated in a relevant discipline
• Working knowledge or fluency in the Gaelic language
• Knowledge and understanding of the traditional arts
• Driving license / own car
Core hours for this 0.8 job are as follows:
Monday and Wednesday 9am – 5pm
Tuesday and Thursday 11am – 7pm
Salary £23,000 – £25,000 pro-rata
