Distil Showcase 2017: Shetland Journey by Rhona Smith

The Distil Showcase will return again to the Tolbooth in Stirling on Friday 31st March 2017 at 8pm. The concert showcases the new and exciting music of traditional music composers. We are very lucky to have Mr McFall’s Chamber as our resident house band once again. You can buy tickets for this fab night of music here!

Rhona Smith has written music called Shetland Journey. Here’s some information about it.

This piece evolved out of fragments of another composition of mine (Sea Fog), combined with ideas which came from a boat trip to Shetland in Summer 2016. It was a stormy crossing, to say the least. This piece tries to reflect the wind and the rain and the texture of the sea, because we endured three seasons in one crossing.

You can read about all the composers here.
