The Distil Showcase will return again to the Tolbooth in Stirling on Friday 8th April 2016 at 8pm. The concert showcases the new and exciting music of traditional music composers. We are very lucky to have Mr McFall’s Chamber as our resident house band once again. You can buy tickets for this fab night of music here!
Alana MacInnes has written music called Distilled. Here’s some information about it.
For a while now I’ve had a phrase in my head that keeps coming back to me. No matter how many times I attempt to do something with it then write off I can’t seem to leave it alone! I’ve tried to use it in various ways, in new tunes, other pieces and as well as arrangements but nothing has ever seemed to fit.
After a brilliant, inspiring weekend of music, great food and much hilarity at Distil with Jim, Greg, Mark and everybody else, I came away with lots of ideas and ways of developing the phrase. So I’ve decided to make it into a recurring theme, surrounding a slow jig. Writing this piece for Mr McFalls Chamber has been a great experience and is as exciting as it is intimidating. So I’m quite relieved that I’m in Ecuador just now! Thank you for the opportunity Simon and Dave and I hope you enjoy Distilled.
