Diaphonique, the Franco-British fund for contemporary music, was launched in 2010. It supports contemporary music projects which foster cultural exchanges between France and the UK.
Diaphonique’s aim is to promote French contemporary classical music in the UK, and British contemporary classical music in France. The projects must involve works composed by British or French composers, which were created over the last 30 years or which are in the process of being composed.
Diaphonique supports the following categories: instrumental, vocal, mixed or electro-acoustic contemporary classical music; new forms of improvised and electronic music; computer-assisted composition and research with multi-media tools.
Diaphonique’s grants are allocated to various projects: concerts, composers’ residencies, commissions of new works and revivals, tours, masterclasses, scholarships.
Diaphonique can finance up to 40% of the artistic part of the budget.
Diaphonique does not fund individual projects. Artists can not apply directly. Applications must be submitted by producers or art organisations.
Diaphonique gives priority to non-profit organisations.
Only the following organisations, French or British, can submit a project: ensembles, companies or collectives, venues, festivals, educational bodies, research studios and centres.
Partnerships between France and the UK must be strong and real.
Diaphonique also supports tripartite projects with Germany : projects involving UK, French and German partners are particularly appreciated.
