“What a Story a Pair of Boots Could Tell”
We are delighted to offer a unique and exciting opportunity for traditional musicians at intermediate to advanced level to work with award winning highland fiddler, composer and gifted tutor Adam Sutherland. Adam is the charismatic lead on a new project, based in St. Margaret’s, Braemar, which will capture stories around the theme of Mountain Rescue and create an original body of work that will be integrated into a performance for the opening of the 2019 Braemar Mountain Festival. The subsequent publication of a “Tunes and Tales“ book will leave a permanent legacy for future musicians to enjoy.
‘…his classes are extremely well planned and structured; they are also informative, innovative and, above all, fun.’
Adam Sutherland, from the shores of Loch Ness, is one of Scotland’s most highly regarded fiddlers and composers. He has a score of awards to his name not least the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards ‘Composer of the Year’ 2017 with his most recent album ‘Some Other Land’ nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ in the upcoming 2018 awards.
Adam has built a reputation as an inspiring tutor and workshop leader at his own fiddle school, establishing an instant rapport and creating a warm, relaxed group atmosphere.
Adam’s first tunebook ‘The Errogie Collection’ features music influenced by his love for the dramatic scenery of the Scottish Highlands and his fascination with the real-life stories of the people he has met in his travels as a professional musician. This project offers a rare chance for successful applicants to work with Adam as he develops new work that encompasses these two major inspirations.
