Sorry to depress you. Some advice from the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA).
Dear SMIA Members,
A number of you have been in touch with us recently regarding the uncertainty that Brexit poses to our industry and the activities we undertake. As you know, the UK was scheduled to leave the EU this Friday (29 March). It now seems that the departure date will be on or before 12 April, but that could change again! However, we are still unclear as to what our relationship with the EU will look like moving forward.
In the event of a ‘no deal’ scenario, we wanted to send you on the following information which should allow you to take necessary actions to minimise disruption as much as possible. The below links will also give you advice on a range of issues that may be relevant to your business:
• EU workers employed in the industry – EU Settlement Scheme
• Travelling in the EU27 eg passport validity, international driving permits, travelling in the common travel area, passenger travel, travel for bus and coach drivers
• Advice on touring: Partnership Pack on customs process (page 64)
We’ll be sure to pass on any additional information in due course once the implications of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU become clearer.
All the best,
Robert Kilpatrick
