City of Edinburgh Council is seeking 15 Youth Music Initiative tutors to deliver creative musical provisions across CEC primary schools and special schools (fixed term until July 2021)

Salary: £26,393 per year (pro rata per annum)
Primary school tutor hours (14 posts): 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday AM
Special school tutor hours (1 post): 9 hours per week, over 3 weekdays
Youth Music Initiative create access to high-quality music making opportunities for young people across City of Edinburgh Council primary schools and special schools. Fully funded by Creative Scotland, Edinburgh’s Youth Music Initiative programme helps develop Creative Learning providing support to schools and establishments across the city.
This is an exciting opportunity for 14 tutors to deliver Youth Music Initiative’s creative musical provisions to learners of all ages in primary schools, and 1 tutor, preferably with ASN experience, to deliver these programmes in special schools.
Successful applicants should have a sound understanding of group music teaching and knowledge of the current curriculum, delivering vocal and instrumental tuition (ukulele in primary schools) to pupils with a commitment to inclusion. Successful candidates will demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently and as part of a team and be dedicated to own personal development.
These posts fall under Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
