Are you passionate about the media? Are you enthusiastic, creative, hardworking and eager to get started in the exciting career you’ve always wanted? Then BBC Scotland want to hear from you! The BBC Scotland Apprenticeship scheme is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in the media industry.
BBC Scotland Apprenticeship
From September, BBC Scotland will be giving the opportunity for our next group of BBC Scotland Apprentices to work with BBC professionals on Radio, TV and Online content across a range of departments such as Sport, Children’s, Radio, Learning and News. They’ll also get the opportunity to learn and work with our partner Glasgow Kelvin College, working towards a Modern Apprenticeship Level 3 in Creative and Digital Media.
BBC Gaelic Apprenticeship
If you’re fluent in Gaelic written and spoken language skills, we have an exciting opportunity for a Gaelic Apprentice who will work with Gaelic production teams across various Gaelic departments in BBC Scotland, and with BBC ALBA’s Independent suppliers.
If you’re applying for the Gaelic Apprenticeship you must be fluent in written and spoken Gaelic. On your application form, where the questions are written in Gaelic, answers must be written in Gaelic. Where the questions are in English, please write your answer in English.
What will it involve?
Your on-the-job experience along with BBC training and study at Glasgow Kelvin College will all add up to the skills and knowledge you need to achieve a Creative & Digital Media Apprenticeship at Level 3.
There is a lot of hard work involved but this will be a learning experience like no other!
If you like the sound of what the BBC Scotland Apprenticeships have to offer and you are 100% committed to becoming a full time Apprentice for a year then this opportunity could be for you.
Don’t worry about having experience or qualifications; it’s you as a person we’re interested in. (Although if you have, or are working towards an HND or above, you’re not eligible to apply.)
What is an apprentice?
An apprentice is someone who is there to learn as well as to work. Your duties could range from providing general administrative support to a production team, to booking equipment, arranging meetings, helping on a variety of programmes and doing basic research.
We will give you training and support to achieve your goals and you’ll gain a qualification at the end of it. The schemes ethos is about opportunity and confidence.
You will be paid an apprenticeship wage, however it is important to note that you do need to be aged 18 when the apprenticeship starts on 4 September 2017. For more information go to Scotland Apprenticeships FAQs.
