Please join our next online coffee morning 09:30am BST | Tuesday 06 September and spread the word by sharing this with your networks and colleagues
UK Music recently published a new report on UK musicians touring the EU, called ‘Let the Music Move – A New Deal for Touring’. The report outlines the urgent action needed to help UK musicians and crew tour Europe more easily. Read the ‘Let the Music Move – A New DealForTouring’ report here.
Joining us will be Music Industry experts to present the report and their work, and we invite you to join us to share your recent experiences of touring Europe or organising European tours. While it is music industry focused, other touring sector colleagues will relate, and are very welcome to join.
Register for the online session for free here.
Our guest contributors are:
Dave Webster – Head of International, Musicians’ Union
Tom Kiehl – Deputy CEO and Director of Public Affairs, UK Music
Dave Webster joined the Musicians’ Union in 2004 following a busy career as a freelance drummer, percussionist and teacher. He first worked for the MU as a branch secretary in the London district before working his way up the organisation, including as National Organiser – Live Performance. Now, as Head of International, his work is focused on tackling the difficulties musicians face when working across borders, such as visas, CITES, travelling with instruments and Brexit.
Tom Kiehl is a specialist in music and creative industries policy and strategy. He was a founding architect of the Live Music Act, designed to deregulate live music performance from entertainment licensing. Tom joined UK Music in 2012 as Director of Government and Public Affairs and was promoted to the role of Deputy CEO and Director of Public Affairs in 2018.
About Arts Infopoint UK Coffee Mornings
Open to all artforms, our monthly online coffee mornings can connect you with other UK-based artists and creative organisations to share cross border working challenges, plans and ambitions. Each session will feature contributions from partners and networks we work with to share current insights and key updates around international mobility.
The coffee mornings take place online every first Tuesday of the month between 09:30-10:30am GMT.
Session agendas are shaped by what you and our speaker bring to the day: whether it be administration for exhibitions or productions; supporting artists to come across borders with new immigration rules; or simply joining to connect with others facing similar challenges. Our aim is to create an informal, supportive network of internationally focused peers.
Automatic closed captioning is available during the sessions.
Kind regards,
