Itchy Coo is aw aboot Scots. Scots buiks, Scots readin, Scots scrievin, Scots speakin, Scots learnin, oor ain unique bonnie broukit Scots leid.

Itchy Coo wis stertit in 2002 by scrievers Matthew Fitt and James Robertson in association wi Black & White Publishing. Its aim is tae promote the Scots leid in schules and get weans readin buiks again in their ain tongue.

The imprent’s back catalogue cairries mony weel-loved buiks forby Katie’s Coo, King o the Midden and A Wee Book o Fairy Tales in Scots. As weel as original stories and poems, Itchy Coo has had muckle success wi Scots translations o kenspeckle makars like Julia Donaldson, Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Alexander McCall Smith and ithers. 

Itchy Coo’s 67th title (due oot in October 2017) is J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stane, hotchin wi carlines, warlocks, cantrips, the Bletherin Bunnet and Bizzumbaw.

Itchy Coo has done ootreach wark in ower a thoosand schules and libraries and its buiks hae been read by hunners o thoosands o Scottish bairns and young folk. 

In 2017, we celebrate oor 15th year o publishin braw buiks for bairns o aw ages. We are up tae high doh aboot HUFT giein Itchy Coo a Services tae Scots Award.
