The Distil Showcase will return again to the Tolbooth in Stirling on Friday 31st March 2017 at 8pm. The concert showcases the new and exciting music of traditional music composers. We are very lucky to have Mr McFall’s Chamber as our resident house band once again. You can buy tickets for this fab night of music here!
Alasdair Paul has written music called Eas Dubh a’Ghlinne Ghairbh. Here’s some information about it.
This piece was composed originally for two fiddles during the final year of my undergraduate studies and there were always aspects of it with which I was unhappy. Recomposing it for string quintet has allowed me to address some of these issues as well as taking advantage of the massive range offered by the string quintet format.
Eas Dubh a’Ghlinne Ghairbh is a waterfall on the Inverianvie River in Wester Ross, near to Aultbea where I grew up.
You can read about all the composers here.
