Congratulations to the Peatbog Faeries for 25 years as a band. This is no mean feat as I’m sure you will agree – I mean The Beatles only lasted 10 years! Hands Up for Trad went along to their gig in Cottiers, Glasgow on June 16th to present their Landmark Award and as ever the venue was packed with happy people rockin out to the band. They played 2 sets with an amazing encore and left their audience shouting for more.
The presentation was at the start of the evening. I made a quick introduction which you can read below and the band set off. Check out the photos below. Read about the Peatbog Faeries here.
“Ladies and gentlemen, cool people, folk rockers and rockettes welcome to the fabulous Peatbog Faeries gig at Cottiers. Can you believe the Peatbogs are now in their 25th year? What an achievement! Originally formed in 1991 founder members Peter Morrison and Innes Hutton have created an amazing band that has blazed a trail for Scottish music across the world. They’ve played everywhere, they’ve won awards, they’ve been inducted into Hall of Fame’s – what can be left to do? Well that’s easy. The Peatbog Faeries will continue to excite audiences with great tunes and funky arrangements across the world that can’t stop you dancing.
I’m here tonight from Hands Up for Trad to celebrate the Peatbog Faeries and award the band our Landmark Award for services to Scottish music. Let’s hear it for this brilliant band.”
