The semi-finalists of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award 2018 have been announced. The young musicians hail from all over Scotland and showcase the amazing amount of talent living in Scotland today. The finalists are:
Alexander Levack (Whistles, Pipes (Smallpipes/Highland Pipes)) – Maryburgh
Amy Papiransky (Voice) – Keith
David Sheddon (Bagpipes) – Glasgow
Eilidh Firth (Fiddle) – Dundee
Hannah Rarity (Voice) – West Lothian
Iona Fyfe (Voice) – Huntly
Luc McNally (Guitar / Voice) – Dipton
Micheal Steele (Bagpipes) – South Uist
Robbie Mackenzie (Fiddle) – Inverness
Rory Matheson (Piano) – Caithness
Scott Garden (Bagpipes / whistle) – Irvine
Seamus O’Baoighill (Fiddle / Bagpipes) – Skye
All musicians attend the semi-finals weekend in Wiston Lodge, South Lanarkshire 6-8th October and perform at a concert on Saturday 7th October in Coulter Hall, Coulter, South Lanarkshire. From this concert 6 musicians are chosen to go through to finals at Celtic Connections festival in January 2018.
