Thirteen musicians arrived in Coulter, South Lanarkshire on Saturday 8th October to compete to get to the final of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award. They all performed for 10 minutes each with accompanists Mhairi Hall (piano) and Michael Bryan (guitar). It was an amazing concert and all the musicians performed brilliantly. The judges (David Francis, Stuart Cassells, Rona Wilkie, Scott Gardiner, Maeve Mackinnon and Iain MacInnes) chose 6 musicians to go through to the finals at Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow. They are:

Dougie McCance, bagpipes (Glasgow)
Ella Munro, Scots song (Skye)
Grant McFarlane, accordion (Paisley)
Iona Fyfe, Scots song (Huntly)
Kim Carnie, Gaelic song (Oban)

The finals concert will be in held in Glasgow’s City Halls on Sunday 5th February at 5pm as part of Celtic Connections festival. It will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Scotland.
