The Paddy Callaghan Trio have been performing since 2011 and have toured extensively throughout Europe. most notably in Denmark and Germany. The Trio play intricate melodies of a mostly Irish flavour with an unmistakable drive and energy that is sure to satisfy any crowd. Many of the Trio’s arrangements and tune choices (featuring Polkas and slides) have helped shift momentum towards a particular style of playing for a raft of the new bands emerging on the Trad scene.
The Trio includes Paddy Callaghan on Button Accordion, Danny Boyle on flute and whistles & a special guest accompanist in the form of Adam Rhodes on Bouzouki.
Career Highlights
The Paddy Callaghan Trio have performed at International Festivals across Europe including Celtic Connections Festival, HebCelt, Orkney Folk Festival, Shetland Folk Festival, All-Ireland Fleadh, Windros Festival and Eire la festa to name a few.
The Trio have also enjoyed various television appearances at concerts and festivals and have a few upcoming exciting appearances lined up for the future.
Paddy was the winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician award in 2013, and has won several All-Ireland medals in playing both Button Accordion and Harp as a member of the world-renowned St. Roch’s Ceili Band. Paddy has enjoyed touring with the Trio, Dallahan and more recently Barrule.
Danny is also a member of St. Roch’s Ceili Band and has enjoyed successes at the All-Ireland on Flute and Drums being an All-Ireland drumming champion. He has also been a member of trad bands Anarkali and Cushtie.
Adam Rhodes is an accompanist with a long resume of appearances. He is a full-time member of Ímar, Mec Lir and Barrule as well as playing alongside the Kelly Family from Germany.
