The Isle of South Uist Folk Club hosts a monthly evening of live intimate traditional/folk music in the heart of the Western Isles. Concerts normally take place in either Daliburgh or Lochboisdale, two wee villages in the South of the Island. The Folk Club is run by Cameron Grant and has been active since it’s launch in January 2016, it’s welcomed a number of acclaimed artists to the Isle of South Uist and Benbecula including Dàimh, Charlie McKerron, Mary Ann Kennedy, The Angus Nicolson Trio and Griogair Labhruidh.
“The Isle of South Uist Folk Club was a wonderful experience for myself and guitarist Finlay Wells. I wasn’t sure what to expect of a Friday night in February, but the 70-strong crowd was a lovely result, and we loved the opportunity of singing and playing a wide range of original and traditional songs to an appreciative and knowledgeable island audience.” – Mary Ann Kennedy
“I’ve been to Tokyo, New York, Moscow and all over the world playing music but the Isle of South Uist Folk Club and Lochboisdale remain a highlight for me” – Charlie McKerron
“We had a great evening of music and song and felt very welcome and taken care of. This club is very important as part of the folk club circuit in Scotland.” – Brian o hEadhra & Fiona MacKenzie
