Vote here! <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.co.uk\/r\/scotstrad2019\">Vote now!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We asked Pablo Lafuente of Project Smok the following questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about yourself<\/strong><br \/>\nBringing together three of Scottish music\u2019s most exciting young players \u2013 Ali Levack (pipes\/whistles), Pablo Lafuente (guitar) and Ewan Baird (bodhran) \u2013 Project Smok revitalise their native West Coast traditions with a high-octane brew of funk, jazz and electronic stylings, and are soon to release the follow-up to their superb debut album Horizons. \u201cSophisticated and intricate. . . sheer, unadulterated virtuosity\u201d (MNPR Magazine)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe\u2019ve each been raised learning Traditional Music from an early age through organisations such as F\u00e8is Rois\/Plockton Music School\/Music Festivals\/Hands Up For Trad. As well as our attraction to Scottish Traditional Music as it is, what has particularly driven each of us in the band is how we can make a difference to how it is perceived and bringing it to a wider audience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Any particular career highlights?<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 Launch of our Debut Record, \u2018Horizons\u2019 at Celtic Connections 2018. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Headlining Ortiguueira Festival 2019, to 40,000 people. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Nominated for \u2018Best Up and Coming Artist\u2019 at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards 2018. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022Collaborating with Edwyn Collins and recording with him on our forthcoming Album.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your plans for the future?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe are launching our Debut Album at Celtic Connections 2020 at the Old Fruitmarket. <br \/>\nWe have been extremely fortunate to perform at such great Festivals\/Venues since the band began, as well as working alongside and collaborating with other gifted musicians. <br \/>\nWe hope that with the launch of our brand new album in February, we will be able to continue performing at a high level more often as \u2018Project Smok\u2019. <br \/>\nBringing our music to a wider audience and creating a larger fan base for traditional music has been a core incentive for us as a band and we feel that this award would greatly benefit us  in being able to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.projectsmok.com\">Project Smok<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.projectsmok.com\">http:\/\/www.projectsmok.com<\/a><br \/>\nFacebook: <a href=\"https:\/\/m.facebook.com\/projectsmok\/?locale2=en_GB\">https:\/\/m.facebook.com\/projectsmok\/?locale2=en_GB<\/a><br \/>\nTwitter: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/projectsmok_?lang=en\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/projectsmok_?lang=en<\/a><br \/>\nInstagram: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/projectsmok\/\">https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/projectsmok\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to attend the final ceremony, tickets are are priced \u00a325 (+ Booking Fee), and Concessions are available.
