We asked Jack Smedley of RURA the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nCelebrating their 10th anniversary in 2020 RURA, with three heralded albums and extensive international touring behind them, are one of Scotland\u2019s most sought after groups. Their compelling, progressive instrumentals have placed them firmly at the forefront of 21st century Scottish folk.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nCause it's AWESOME.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nOur proudest moment was releasing our third and first exclusively instrumental album, In Praise of Home.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nIn 2020 we celebrate our 10th anniversary! We plan to record a live album at this years Celtic Connections featuring special guests who we've worked with along the way. We have a number of exciting performances across the world lined up which we'll be announcing soon!<\/p>\n

Bands performing on Saturday 7th December include Skerryvore, Session A9, Benedict Morris (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician Award Winner 2019), Heisk, Aberdeenshire Youth Band, Sian, Robyn Stapleton, Mairi Campbell and the Pendulum Band, Susan MacFadyen Scottish Dance Band and more to be announced. There will also be a late night ceilidh after the Awards till 1am.<\/p>\n
