After weeks of anticipation and thousands of nominations from the public, shortlist for the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards, has been unveiled. (See full list in editor\u2019s notes). The prestigious event honours and celebrates the achievements of Scotland\u2019s traditional musicians and 2013 will marks its 11th consecutive year.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Voting in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards\" href=\"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotstradmusicawards\/voting\/\"><strong>VOTE HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s awards will take place at Aberdeen\u2019s Music Hall on Saturday 7th December and tickets to attend the glamorous awards ceremony hosted by Mary Ann Kennedy and Tony Kearney are on sale now from www.aberdeenperformingarts.com\u00a0or calling the box office on\u00a001224 641122.<\/p>\n<p>The public can vote from <a title=\"Voting in the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards\" href=\"http:\/\/projects.handsupfortrad.scot\/scotstradmusicawards\/voting\/\">today<\/a>, Tuesday 5th November until Friday 22nd November, for this year\u2019s winners across 16 categories including Album Of The Year, Composer Of The Year, Venue Of The Year and Gaelic Singer Of The Year, by logging online at www.scotstradmusicawards.com\/voting. The winner of each category will be the artist who receives an equal combination of the most industry and fan votes.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past 11 years the awards, produced by Hands Up for Trad, have celebrated and seen performances by some of the finest Scottish traditional musicians and bands including Barbara Dickson, Peatbog Faeries, Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Karine Polwart.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s notable nominees include Tiree Music Festival which has been nominated for Event of the Year Sponsored by VisitScotland. It has been a momentous year for the festival which sold out in record time \u2013 tripling the population of Tiree over the festival weekend, has been crowned \u2018Best Cultural Event\u2019 at the\u00a0Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards and \u2018Best Small Festival\u2019 for the second year in a row at the Scottish Event Awards. It has also been announced that the festival will be extended to three days in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Event founder and promoter Simon Thoumire says: \u201cWe are delighted to be bringing the Scottish Trad Awards back for the 11th year running.
