We asked Ian Smith of Trail West the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nWith all band members hailing from the Hebridean Isles of Tiree and South Uist, the music and culture that they were raised in remains a pure and refreshing trademark in the sound of Trail West.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s second album, \u2018Rescattermastered\u2019 represents the next step on the journey for this exciting west coast quartet.<\/p>\n

As with the band\u2019s first release (\u2018The One That Got Away\u2019, 2013), Rescattermastered demonstrates the incredible musicianship of frontline pair Seonaidh MacIntyre and Ian Smith through high-energy tunes and arrangements, accompanied by the multi-instrumental talents of Andrew Findlater and Alain Campbell.<\/p>\n

In addition to this, a wide selection of songs now highlight the development and maturity of a band leading the thriving scene of \u2018Glasgow Gaels\u2019 ensuring that traditional music in Scotland has a very strong future.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nWith three members hailing from the island of Tiree, where there is a very strong traditional music scene, and one member from South Uist, where piping is particularly strong, involvement in Traditional Scottish Music was inevitable for all four members of the band.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nWinning the Scottish Dance Band of the Year award in 2013 was a particular highlight.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nWe are hoping to continue our busy schedule of gigs throughout Scotland and hope to perform at more functions abroad.<\/p>\n
