We asked Lori Watson of Lori Watson the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nLori Watson is the first Doctor of Artistic Research in Scottish Music, and an authority on contemporary traditional music practice in Scotland. Drawing on her strong roots in the rich and creative tradition of the Scottish Borders, she has become a leading interpreter of Scottish folk music and Scots song and her skills as a performer, composer, researcher and educator are widely recognised. Her performance, composition and songwriting can be heard with solo projects and award-winning groups Boreas <http:\/\/www.boreasband.com>, Watson\/Black <http:\/\/www.watsonblack.net>, Rule Of Three <http:\/\/www.ruleofthreemusic.com>, Iain Morrison <http:\/\/www.iainmorrisonmusic.com> and Fireside Music Company (with Dr Margaret Bennett) <http:\/\/www.firesidemusiccompany.tumblr.com>.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nScottish music is at the heart of everything I do. I love the relationship between constant innovation and strong lineage, and in Scotland we're lucky to have very old roots.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nEvery day is a highlight!<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nLori has a new solo project in the pipeline called 'Yarrow'. "Dark and brooding, windswept, joyful, turbulent, sparse: Yarrow is an exploration of human connection to nature, and one another, through time, inspired by the Yarrow Valley in the Scottish Borders."<\/p>\n
