We asked Hector Riddell of Hector Riddell the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nI was born and brought up in a family of 8 in Leochel Cushnie near Alford.
\nThere was always music and singing in the home.
\nI spent a lot of years singing Country and Irish in dance bands.
\nI started competing in the Bothy Ballad and Traditional Songs about 12 years ago after a big nudge from my wife and younger sister, and am delighted to have been quite successful.
\nSinging The Bothy Ballads come natural to me as I have been associated with farming all my life.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nI want to help keep our music and song traditions alive.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nWinning the covetted McAllan Porridge Bowl and Spoon at the Elgin Rotary Bothy Ballad Champion of Champions Competition for the first time in 2009 then 2010 , 2013 and 2015<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nTo keep competing and to help youngsters to keep our Heritage in the music and songs alive.<\/p>\n
