We asked Gus of Solas Sound<\/strong> the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nSolas Sound is an independent recording studio in Glasgow, run by bassist, engineer and producer Gus Stirrat. For over ten years, we\u2019ve helped artists bring their music to life in a relaxed, welcoming space, with a particular love for Scotland\u2019s folk and traditional music.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nHighlights include studio work with Blue Rose Code, M\u00e0nran, Gnoss, Joy Dunlop, Fergus McCreadie and corto.alto. It\u2019s been a pleasure to help capture such a varied mix of Scottish music and build lasting relationships with the artists along the way.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nTo keep making great records with good people, build on the studio\u2019s place in Scotland\u2019s music community, and help both new and established artists create work they\u2019re proud of.<\/p>\n

The 2026 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards are on the 5th December 2026 in Paisley Arena, Lagoon Centre! You will be able to watch it live in person (buy a ticket here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
