I love writing harmonies and arrangements for songs, and it’s such a joy to hear them sung in a group setting.
I also teach Scots Song and Language in Primary schools in Stirling and Clackmannanshire Council, teaching a YMI funded project called “The Scots Sang an Leid Projeck” as I believe that learning the Scots language through song is a really fun and effective way to learn it – and can help cultivate an interest in Scottish culture and heritage from a young age. I also run a big day of song and harmony called the Dunblane Big Sing in September each year.
It’s a privilege to have worked for nearly twenty years in a field where I’m able to share my enthusiasm and love of singing and harmony with people, as well as my deep rooted passion for Scots song and language.
When I’m not teaching, I take great delight in performing at festivals, folk clubs and I sing at the odd session when I can get to them.

Any particular career highlights?
I’ve been lucky that there have been many joyful points in my career so far that it’s hard to pick particular highlights, but in the past couple of years I’ve had the opportunity to take part in some wonderful performances with some amazing singers.
In 2024 at Celtic Connections I was honoured to be a part of the “Scots Women : Generations o Change” concert, alongside some of my singing heroes and idols from the first concert series, as well as my contemporaries and friends who also grew up listening to the albums. In 2025, I was a guest singer at Malinky’s 25th anniversary concert at Celtic Connections, and it was an absolute dream to sing one of my favourite songs alongside a band I’d been listening to since I was in my teens. Also in 2025, I was asked to be in the line up and tour with A Wheen o Wimmin, a group of scots song legends– Aileen Carr, Barbara Dymock, Chris Miles and Elspeth Cowie, where I was affectionately referred to as “The Bairn”. It was a privilege to share a stage with such champions of Scots song.
Also, setting up my first singing group The Liltin Lassies has been especially wonderful. Knowing that I’ve created such a supportive, friendly outgoing group of inspiring and talented women has been a total honour, and has also led me to working with many community groups and choirs all over the country as well as overseas.

What are your plans for the future?
It’s been such a wonderful and exciting few years for me, so I am full of plans going forward. I’m very passionate about keeping people singing, so I’d love to build on my Dunblane Big Sing event I hold every September, where I bring together singers together for a massive day of harmony and song. I’d also love to collaborate on song arranging and publish a book of my existing song arrangements – I would love to know that the music I’ve created was being sung widely.

Amy Lord Social Media
Website: https://amylord.scot
Facebook: @amylord.scot

Listen to music: http://

The 2026 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards are on the 5th December 2026 in Paisley Arena, Lagoon Centre!
