Why not join us for a brilliant night of music and awards. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aberdeenperformingarts.com\/whats-on\/mg-alba-scots-trad-music-awards\/\">Buy a ticket here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We asked Amy of <strong>Amy Laurenson<\/strong> the following questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us about yourself<\/strong><br \/>\nI\u2019m a piano player from Shetland, currently based in Glasgow. My music blends trad Shetland links with classical and jazz influence. Since being named BBC Radio Scotland\u2019s Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023, I\u2019ve released my debut album \u2018Strands\u2019 and have performed internationally since it\u2019s released solo and other various projects including my band L\u00c9DA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong><br \/>\nI come from Shetland and have always had a strong pull to connect with the music and tradition of where I come from \u2013 my music is very inspired by this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Any particular career highlights?<\/strong><br \/>\nPlaying Celtic Colours has to be up there (one of my fav festivals)! Getting awarded BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2023 was a highlight too.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your plans for the future?<\/strong><br \/>\nWriting a New Voices commission for Celtic Connections 2025 &amp; recording album no.2!
