We asked Jenn of Jenn Butterworth<\/strong> the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nJenn Butterworth is one of the UK\u2019s leading exponents of traditional folk guitar, renowned for her exceptional skills in collaboration, accompaniment and arrangement. Based in Scotland, she performs regularly with award-winning folk powerhouse Kinnaris Quintet and in duos with Laura-Beth Salter and Will Pound.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nTraditional music has always been a big part of my life, from going to sessions, folk clubs and festivals with my parents when I was a child, to being at the forefront of the innovative gigging scene. I love the excitement of the gigs, the warmth of the audiences and the strong sense of community.<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nA huge career highlight from this year was releasing my first solo album, which took a lot of work as I edited and produced it myself. Seeing it appear in the UK Top 40 Official Download Charts was mind-blowing.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nI’ve had a really hectic gigging schedule this year, but now we’re getting into the winter I’m looking forward to beginning work on my next album. I’ve also got the incredible opportunity of touring as support for Fairport Convention in Spring 2026, where I’ll have the chance to perform the songs from Her By Design to audiences all over England and Wales.<\/p>\n

The 2025 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards are on the 6th December 2025 in Aberdeen Music Hall! You will be able to watch it live in person (buy a ticket here<\/a>).
