We asked Gary of M\u00e0nran<\/strong> the following questions.<\/p>\n

Tell us about yourself<\/strong>
\nM\u00e0nran are one of the most acclaimed bands in the Scottish traditional music scene, celebrated for their powerful blend of Gaelic and contemporary folk sounds. Since forming in 2010, the multi-award-winning group have built an international reputation for their electrifying live performances, rich harmonies, and dynamic musicianship. They continue to unite influences from rock, pop and world music whilst singing in both Gaelic and English. M\u00e0nran have toured across Europe, the USA and Australia, earning acclaim for their fresh, forward-looking take on the traditional.<\/p>\n

Why are you involved in Scottish music?<\/strong>
\nBecause there is no better music on the planet!<\/p>\n

Any particular career highlights?<\/strong>
\nHaving now performed in over 30 countries all across the world, we have so many career highlights, but some standout moments from this year alone include showcasing our music in Carnegie Hall, NYC and getting three singles from our new album To the Wind play-listed on BBC Radio 2.<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the future?<\/strong>
\nTo continue to create music that we are excited to play and perform live.<\/p>\n

The 2025 MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards are on the 6th December 2025 in Aberdeen Music Hall! You will be able to watch it live in person (buy a ticket here<\/a>). Hosted by Scottish personalities Alistair Heather and Mary Ann Kennedy, the night in the Granite City will also welcome live performances from some of the brightest lights on the thriving trad scene today including beloved singer Hannah Rarity, UK folk legends The Poozies, trad pop band Mec Lir and BBC Radio scotland Young Traditional Musician and Scots Performer o the Year Ellie Beaton and many more!<\/p>\n
